Lei Dorme

Lei Dormei is a sleeping female form that lies almost casually at rest. Her body lays on one side, head cradled by arms, the shoulder, waist, hip and ankle existing as a coherent line across the form, but also over the form. This bronze piece was cast from clay made completely by intuition with no measurement, addressing the creation of the female anatomy through the features that are most recognizable: the sensuous curvature. Lei Dormei means to ‘dream’. The repose itself suggests a place between waking and sleeping, conjuring the imagination and passage of time through one person’s physical body.
