The human figure is an embodiment of its life in progress. This black Belgian marble piece is one that is powerful yet demonstrative of a body’s emotional and physical vulnerability. The scale of this piece is slightly smaller than life sized, providing a perspective as though we view this torso lying from further away. We are not part of this journey, yet feel compelled to engage: like witnessing a story unfold within the form. All of time and all of someone’s life appears contained only in this elemental posture of the limbless torso, the shoulders and what can be seen below the hip wrought together by the musculature of the frontal surface. La Forza is a crucible of a man’s strength and his challenges. |
