Strength is masculine solidity: emphasizing the depth of energy that is not so much overpowering, but ancient and elemental. Hewn from black Belgian marble that is grey in a raw state and becomes shining black upon polishing to the final state, Strength demonstrates Anna’s ability not to casually represent the male anatomy, but to extract its heroic force and concentrate its standing posture in a section of the figure (the torso). In its partial state, it is not abstract but familiar and warm. |
