2011 Bronze | Autumn – Autumn or ‘fall’, represents the end of the harvest and vitality fully realized in summer. Autumn is the time when the earth prepares to return to slumber, and nature transforms from the vivid vibrancy of summer, into a more reserved pace. In the northern hemisphere, grapes are harvested between August to October, and Autumn is replete with the bounty of the vineyards, in preparation for the onset of winter. The association of wine from grapes also invites a moment not of celebration, but one of consolation in proto-melancholy in anticipation of winter. |
